Hi, I’m Tess. I am a wearer of many different hats. Mum, unpaid Taxi driver , makerer of the dinner, organiser of the family holidays, photographer. I am also a millennial who grew up listening to The Spice Girls, butterfly clips, very thin eyebrows and MSN chat rooms. I love music festivals, live gigs, a long boozy lunch with my girlfriends. My favourite season is winter with cold mornings and bright blue skies. I love the smell of a freshly bathed little human and how they always seem to fit perfectly in your lap and I love capturing the same moments for other people. The tender moments, the funny moments, the silly moments so you never forget how their eyes light up when they look at you or how much teeth they show when you crack a bad joke. Those are the moments you will want to look back on forever…trust me.

Relaxed, natural, candid style that capture a moment in time, documenting your big day or your family just as they are. We play, we tell bad jokes, we make fun of Dad for his terrible microwave cooking and I usually get bitten by green ants. We jump, we run, we tickle and I will probably ask you to slow dance with your love with no music. But there will be no awkward “what do I do with my hands” situations…promise.

What to expect

If you book a session with me, a lot of it will be just a relax hang out! No pressure…

Sure we will definitely try and wrangle them for a couple of minutes, when the time is right, for those family shots you can give to your grandparents but mostly I just ask you all to hang out, interact, tickle, listen to my terrible jokes and you never EVER have to apologise for your little babes behaviour! I’m a mum, I get it!!

If you choose me for your wedding…its not a lot different!! Probably minus the tickling…that could get weird! Though I am also down with weird!

It is ALL about making you as comfortable as possible, I will chat and observe and capture those inbetween moments. I will then swish you away for portraits and then leave you alone to have the epic party with your loved ones that you deserve. And I will most likely end up on the dance floor showing off my terrible dance moves.

Don’t ever worry if the kids aren’t feeling it!! Little Hazel did not put her feet on the grass the whole shoot, she was NOT about that freshly mowed grass. I gotchu!!

Woah…I mean WOAH!! This year? Am I right? This is me ^^^ just pulling herself across the finish line!! And because of that I’m making some changes next year. Firstly big thanks to the wonderful couples and families who have asked me to capture a moment in their lives this year. To save my sanity a little bit and spend some more time with my own fam bam, next year I will mostly only be doing family sessions mid week. Happy to book things well advance so you can rally the troops but I have to start protecting my weekends a little more. I’m also going to open myself up for a lot more extended family sessions. I’ve done several this year and I just bloody love them!!! So if you haven’t had any photos with your mum, dad, siblings, grandparents whatever!! The time is now. Yes I know it’s painful organising that many people and no you won’t ever regret it - I also promise not to lock my keys in the car (see last post) Weddings wise…definitely still open for those!! Especially if you are getting married in a country hall or your backyard or your parents backyard or out bush!! In the meantime I’m taking a little break over the summer back shooting mid February ✌🏼 📷 by @photography.byamanda
Once upon a time, a photographer headed down the beach to shoot an old school friend and her extended fam, nearly 12 months in the making. 8 Adults and 8 kids. This photographer proceeded to lock her keys in the car…with all her gear inside!
Once upon a time, a photographer headed down the beach to shoot an old school friend and her extended fam, nearly 12 months in the making. 8 Adults and 8 kids. This photographer proceeded to lock her keys in the car…with all her gear inside! Luckily she was in the presence of modern day MacGyvers aka mechanics and they managed to break into her car with two sticks, a plastic water bottle and a piece wire acquired from a friendly stranger. And then to stop this photographer from her brain exploding, Mother Nature gave her the most beautiful sunset at the beach she had seen for a long time!! Sidenote* I have known Renee (white and pink patterned dress) for over 20 years, hadn’t seen her in YEARS and it was just like we were 15 again having sleep overs at her house!! The End. Extra sidenote** organise an extended family session. Yes it’s painful to organise but trust me. Just do it!!!
